Our monthly Saturday freestyles are held at The Rover Club, Roman Way, Horspath Rd, Cowley, Oxford, which boasts the county's largest and most impressive EMPEROR Ballroom, with huge smooth wooden floor, and spacious comfy socialising area.
The EMPRESS ballroom where we hold occasional Cool Jive events, is like its little sister - similar great floor, but more intimate!

Workshop run by Nick, the original choreographer, this is a fun, pacy, routine to this great track by Queen.
Participants will have had a minimum of 6 months jive dancing, and will have the optional opportunity to perform the routine at the freestyle in the evening, at our weekly classes and on other occasions.

Blues workshops in the afternoon
Same venue as above
Blues jive is now popular all over the country and ideal for slower tracks where conventional MJ just won't cut it! It allows for maximum interpretation of the music including breaks and hesitations
Beginners 1.15 - 3.15 pmwith Rob Jefferys & Yrs Truly - Blues champ runners-up
Ideal for jive dancers who would like to learn the basics of Blues jive.
Intermediate/Advanced 3.30 - 6.30 pm with Nigel & Nina - the original exponents of Blues jive.
To keep this workshop at a sufficiently high level, bookings will be taken only from those with previous Blues experience This workshop assumes knowledge of the basic technque and patterns of Blues jive.
So Nigel and Nina will look at developing Blues techniques, and teach some exciting and stylish patterns for when the hour grows late and the temperature soars!!
